Blog Entry #6: Logo Parodies that speak the truth
1. Describe the logo using the language of the Elements and Principles of Design.
This logo consists of organic shapes. There are also several different tints and shades of green being used in this logo. I think there is dominance in this logo since it seems as if the British Petroleum logo is emphasized by the colour green.
2. Describe the symbols used in the logo. Why did the graphic artist use such imagery?
The symbols being used in this logo is the British Petroleum logo and water. I believe that the curved lines underneath the BP logo is meant to represent water. I also think the dark colours in this logo is meant to represent the oil that's contaminating our water.
3. What does this logo say of BP's coroporate identity?
This logo shows that British Petroleum is harming our environment by contaminating our water. This logo is able to capture this message through the words beyond penetration. These words are great because they fit perfectly with the initials of British Petroleum which is why I really liked this logo.
Blog Entry #5: Digital Actors
1. Is this acting or is this animation?
I think acting is being done in the movie Avatar. Animations can be done in this movie, however I think there is still a lot of acting done because there should be certain movements characters make in the movie that will be difficult to animate. Acting doesn't necessarily mean that you have to be speaking.
2. Do you think that animated character should be eligible for acting awards?
I don't think animated characters should be eligible for acting awards since they aren't real beings. Maybe those who created these animated characters can be eligible for some type of acting award, but not the actual animated characters because it would be unfair to real life actors who work hard.
3. Do you think that human actors will ever become obsolete? Why or why not?
Although animated movies are enjoyable, I don't think animated characters can ever replace human actors. Unlike animated films, real life films are more believable and easier to relate to and that's why I think they are more successful. Studying the way actors act is way different from studying animated characters.

Blog Entry #4: From Spray Can to light: Graffiti Revisited.
This is by far my favourite light graffiti. I think this picture is very attractive because of the analogous colours used (purple and red). The white also greatly contrasts the purple. I think the flower in this image is very pretty. In addition, I think this light graffiti has harmony and is simple. The flow of the lines in this graffiti makes it very calming to look at as well.
Here is an example of street graffiti. I chose to use this picture because I think it's very creative how the car was incorporated and blends in with the wall. I love the amount of contrast in this graffiti and the brightness of the colours. This graffiti is well balanced, but is maybe a bit too busy.
Light Graffiti vs. Street Graffiti
Light graffiti and street graffiti are similar in the sense that they are both forms of art. However, they both differ in many ways. Street graffiti is permanent, while light graffiti isn't. Secondly, Light graffiti is usually made in darkened areas, while street graffiti can be made in dark or light areas. Lastly, light graffiti requires different sources of light, while street graffiti requires paint.
Blog Entry #3: Mashups and Copyright Law
1. What is this mashup trying to communicate? Is it technical experiment, social or political commentary, a comedic parody, or an abstract work of media art?
I think this mashup is a social commentary work of media art. Social commentary is the act of refusing to obey an individual or a group of people. Since both songs seem to be rebellious and because of the way the characters in Glee sing this song, I think this mashup would fall into this category.
2. Did its creator follow or break copyright laws in its production?
I don't think the creator of this mashup broke any copyright laws in its production. This is because both songs were tweaked in a way that it wasn't exactly like its original form. Also, there was no use of any original footage.
3. Do you think that mashup like this requires copyright permission? Why or why not.
Even though this mashup doesn't break any copyright laws, I still think that it requires copyright permission since I'm aware that Glee songs like these are distributed through iTunes.
Blog Entry #2: A Look at Music Videos
My initial reaction to this music video is that it was really unique how it started with a video of Big Sean five years ago. At first he talks about how he feels as if his dreams are coming true then this video fast forwards to his life currently where he's rich and famous. This video is basically about living everyday to the fullest, like it's your last. This music video somewhat follows Gospel Values, but at the same time it counters them since everyone in the video doesn't seem to think of any consequences to what they're doing. I think that because this song's like a feel good song, it influenced this music video to be made. I think the scenery in this video and the bright lights used musically worked with this song. Most of the elements used in this video really made me enjoy this music video. Now this song really motivates me to try and reach all my long term goals.
